t doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing.
..I want to know what sustains you, from the inside, when all else falls away.
The Invitation,
Oriah Mountain Dreamer
iobhan Richards
I moved to the Netherlands from Scotland in 2006 to join my husband. I took the chance then to step back from my life and to take a fresh look at my dreams and priorities. I've long been fascinated by the connection between body and mind, and it was a natural step to decide to retrain as a body psychotherapist. I have just completed the final year of a 4-year training, organised by NIBA*, and as a therapist in training I will work under supervision until I am fully certified.
My professional background is education and training, and I worked for more than 10 years in the public and not-profit sectors in the UK. Alongside my therapy practice I am a dance teacher, and I teach Argentine tango in the Netherlands and abroad.
My method of working is experiential, creative and body-oriented. Through a combination of different body-awareness and expressive exercises and movements the aim is to let your feelings surface, and to learn to listen more closely to the voice and wisdom of your body.
I work in both Dutch and English, and as an expat myself I am particularly aware of the cycle of adjustment and frustrations of living away from home.
I am a member of the NIBA* (Netherlands Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis) and the IIBA (International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis).
